Control of Crop Diseases
Editorial Reviews
Book Description
Disease control in commercial crops is both economically important and environmentally controversial. The second edition of this book, originally published in 1988, provides a concise introduction to modern practices of disease control on commercial crops. This new edition has been updated to include changes in practice and legislation that have come into effect since the first edition, and expanded by the addition of a new chapter on the detection and identification of disease, with special emphasis on rapid molecular diagnostic techniques. Other new features include an expanded coverage of fungicides and consideration of problems of disease control in crops and produce entering international trade. In a concluding chapter, the author considers the impact of economic, environmental and legislative pressures on the selection and use of disease control measures and provides an overview of likely future developments in disease control. This text will be useful for undergraduate courses in agriculture and crop science.
