Plant Resources of South-East Asia : Edible fruits and nuts (World Biodiversity Database CD-ROM Series)
Editorial Reviews
Book Description
This unique interactive CD-ROM, produced by ETI and PROSEA, testifies to the great wealth and diversity of edible fruits and nuts in South-East Asia. The multimedia databases on this CD-ROM contain detailed information on approximately 120 (economically) important foodcrops, brief characteristics of another 270 species of lesser importance, and references to other PROSEA titles are given for nearly 400 species which are not primarily used for their fruit-, nut- or seed-production. Many of the species are illustrated by drawings and/or photos. The hyper-linked program offers a matrix-based identification system which contains information on secondary uses and geographical distribution. Also included are a list of South-East Asian references, a list of references for the included descriptions, and a glossary explaining the terms used. This CD-ROM rightfully belongs in any scientific library and in reference collections of both botanists and crop experts as well as anyone dealing with food crops.
