About the Author
Born and raised in a farming community in north-central Ohio, Marvin McKinley, as a boy, was fascinated by the prevailing style of rural living. Tales of earlier times, related by his grandparents and others, instilled in him a keen interest in agricultural history. The sweeping changes in farming methods which took place during the 1940s brought an era in American agriculture to a close. McKinley considered this to be in many respects regrettable, and conceived the idea of someday perpetuating the era by recording its colorful events. He spent a great many hours to the study of early-day agriculture, rare farm machinery literature, and other related material. This book is the result of those efforts.
