About the Author
Michael W. Guidry is professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Tennessee and an Adjunct Staff Member of the Physics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His recent research involves Type II supernovae, novae, X-ray bursters, large-scale element production networks, gamma-ray bursts, applications of dynamical symmetries to condensed matter systems, and development of object-oriented programming for scientific visualization and advanced educational technology. Margaret Sweeney Riedinger has been teaching Physical Science and Astronomy at University of Tennessee since 1974. Ted Barnes joined the Theory Group of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Physics Division in October 1989, and has a joint appointment as a Professor and Collaborating Scientist of Theoretical Physics in the Physics Department of the University of Tennesee at Knoxville. His previous appointments include Research Fellow at the Rutherford Laboratory in England with F.E. Close and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Toronto with N. Iegur. His research includes hadron physics and QCD in the resonance region. He is also interested in computational physics and was a collaborator on the Caltech Concurrent Computation Project.
