About the Author
DENNIS DESJARDIN was awarded the Alexopoulos Prize from the Mycological Society of America for outstanding research and the W.H. Weston Award for excellence in teaching. He is currently professor of biology and director of the H.D. Thiers Herbarium at San Francisco State University. DON E. HEMMES is currently professor and chairman of the biology department at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He has been awarded the University of Hawaii Regent's Excellence in Teaching Award and W.H. Weston Award.
