Editorial Reviews
Midwest Book Review
Why Are We Here? is the scientific answer to an age-old question and readers don't need to be a scientist or a philosopher to understand. Although this 304 page book ends up with a Biblical perspective, it was written starting from a 'no belief' perspective and with the intent of investigating what could be scientifically concluded about theology and its related fields (psychology, spirituality, sociology and religion). Therefore Why Are We Here? is intended for the non-spcialist general reader who has wondered about our place in the universe, and why we are alive. It contains the results of 28 years of research that gives a scientifically supported answer to the question: why are we here? The author, Dennis Marcellino started out as an award-winning mathematician and scientist. In a very inspired search to find the ultimate truths about this life and our place in it, he took his analytical abilities and science knowledge and delved deeply into nearly every major and minor form of psychology, philosophy, spirituality and religion. Now, 28 years later, he presents the results of this search with this book. The objective of the search was to just seek 'truth' and not be snagged by unprovable philosophies or aspects of philosophies along the way. Besides physical science, his fields of expertise are: psychology, theology, philosophy, sociology, spirituality, and the Bible. He says he also wrote this book because, having been a Catholic, a Protestant, a new-age person, a secular-humanist, a liberal and a conservative - and each of these for many years - he sees how all of these groups could greatly benefit from wisdoms in the others. Some of the main and unique things covered in this book:=20 - The most extensive proof that God exists' ever given - Why an all-loving God allows evil=20 - Scientific solutions to the puzzles: infinite time, infinite space, 'who made God?' - How bad-fruit preachers' have hurt Christianity's credibility in the public forums - New discoveries in: psychology, philosophy, sociology, spirituality, and theology - A detailed description of modern-day idol worship' and the spirit of dysfunction' - Scientific proof that we have 8 senses, not 5 - How to conduct your own scientific investigation to know truth - Why the Bible is the optimum personal-growth manual and problem-solver=20 - How God' is even more scientifically provable than atoms' - The most extensive proof of the perfectness of the Bible' ever given - The paradoxes of: submission, fear and freedom - - A very detailed description of what love is and isn't - - Why the secular church (television) is a major source of dysfunction in this nation - How to best deal with: pain, anger, fear, doubt, and jealousy - How to be assured of a great afterlife. . . and how to have a great life now - The main arguments in the history of philosophy for and against God's existence - Simple Instructions on how to be a Bible scholar=20 - - How to know if this is the "end times" =20 - - How to achieve the greatest degree of freedom a human being can achieve Why Are We Here? is engaging reading and a highly recommended addition to any philosophy and theological reading list surveying the general questions related to the meaning of life.
